Two residents told the Huachuca City Council the crosswalk by the Circle K presents a safety hazard and urged the town to install a safer crossing.
Lonnie Brock said the crosswalk lights are not visible to drivers and asked the council to consider an improved solution. Tami Ackerson recounted that her daughter was struck while using the crosswalk properly and said, “Cars do not see the lights and stop. She wants something better and safer in place.” The remarks were made during the open call to the public.
Mayor Johann Wallace later said the crosswalk has received media attention and that he hopes to meet with the Arizona Department of Transportation (ADOT) next week to discuss the issue. The council did not take formal action during the meeting but the matter was raised publicly for follow-up by staff.
