At the Feb. 12 meeting the Huachuca City Council adopted Ordinance 2026-04, updating several chapters of the town code relating to animals. The amendments include changes to expiration rules for licenses and vaccinations, removal of references to an animal shelter the town no longer has, revisions to impoundment and adoption language, adjustments to rules for keeping chickens, and changes concerning animal capture and traps.
Town staff and the town attorney presented the ordinance; Mayor Johann R. Wallace moved for adoption and Councilmember Christy Hirshberg seconded the motion. The minutes record the ordinance as adopted during the meeting.
The meeting record does not include the full revised code language; staff noted the shelter referenced in prior code sections is no longer operated by the town, prompting statutory housekeeping to remove or update related provisions.
