Shannon Prox, the business owner, told the council her restaurant had been open three years but experienced a three-year delay in building improvements; she asked for a chance to meet with EDC staff and the interim director to avoid court action.
Interim city staff said multiple attempts to obtain payment and required information had failed over three years and that only about $1,000 had been recouped. Council members expressed a preference to give the owner one final opportunity to negotiate and directed staff to return the item to the council at the next meeting if no constructive response is received.
A motion to table passed unanimously. Council members emphasized that tabling should be the final chance to resolve the issue and that any negotiated agreement should have a strict timeline.
