Staff said the acquisitions would replace a 1996 dump truck with 162,581 miles and a 2003 service truck with 173,126 miles, and that the prices were a bit under what had been budgeted.
One councilmember from District 3 voiced frustration that the purchases were being considered so soon after the budget was passed and argued district projects were still behind; that member recorded a 'no' vote on at least one vehicle. The council nonetheless approved both resolutions, and staff said the new equipment is necessary to maintain operations and complete scheduled street and drainage projects.
