Administrator Tim Curtis told commissioners that Maine Revenue Services has issued updated state valuations for 2026. He said Somerset towns averaged a 10% valuation increase, and that the county’s assessed valuation rose from $7.75 million in 2024 to $9.6 million in 2026, a 22.8% increase.
Curtis told the board that, despite the increase in total property valuations, the distribution of county tax assessments did not vary drastically compared with the previous year. County officials did not announce any immediate changes to tax policy; staff said the FY27 budget process is underway and the first draft will be ready in mid to late February.
