The Wilkes County Board of Commissioners unanimously approved a Parks & Recreation facility rental application and fee schedule on March 5.
Parks & Recreation Board Chair Chris Mastin and Director Kevin Anderson told the Board the county previously charged $100 per field before COVID and had waived fees during recovery efforts; the proposed fee is $150 per field per day. The department will require renters to provide liability insurance naming the County as additional insured. Director Anderson said even at the proposed rate Wilkes County’s fees are competitive and lower than most surrounding counties.
Vice Chairman Evan Handy and commissioners said the fee schedule will help recoup maintenance costs and avoid reserved-but-unused field blocks that hinder other events. The motion to adopt the rental application and fees passed unanimously.
