County approves purchase of seal oil, seeks additional rock quotes for chip seal

At the March 3 meeting the Watonwan County Board approved purchasing seal oil from Flint Hills Resources at $808.70 per ton and fog seal oil at $871.56 per ton using Minnesota Cooperative Purchasing Venture (state bid) pricing. The motion to approve the seal oil purchases passed unanimously.
County Engineer Michael McCarty also presented quotations for 1/4 W CHIP rock: Martin Marietta (New Ulm Quarry) at $27.00 per unit and Sioux Rock Quarry at $22.15 per unit; the Board requested that McCarty obtain and present additional quotes from other companies at the next Board meeting. These procurement approvals were recorded in the minutes as part of the Board’s routine road maintenance procurement actions.
