During the information portion of the July 8 meeting, Council Member May reported the Peace Garden Unity Day occurred the previous evening and promoted the Lawn and Garden Tour on July 18, which will include the Peace Garden with master gardeners present. Council Member Mielke and Wassenberg highlighted Community Engagement Commission and Heights Community Orchestra activities; Mayor Gustafson noted the Parks and Recreation Commission would meet the following evening and promoted the City’s Ice Cream Social on July 17.
City Administrator Jack Linehan announced that Rachel Development, the selected buyer for the Les Bolstad Golf Course property, will present its RFP at a joint Community Advisory Committee and City Council workshop on the following Wednesday; the session will be televised by NineNorth. Linehan also announced that Megan Siddons began work that week as the new Administrative and Communications Coordinator and that Valair (Fairway Commons) plans to close on the property Friday and begin construction Monday, with construction quiet hours to be enforced. No public comments were offered during the community forum.
