Harbordale condo president given 56 days to resolve unpermitted deck

The Fort Lauderdale Code Enforcement Board granted a 56‑day extension on July 28 to Harbordale Condo Association to address an unpermitted deck at 1001 Southeast 16th Street.
Jonathan Longo, who identified himself as president of Harbordale, told the board he joined the association in May and found the deck already built without proper permits. “I’ve submitted all the drawings and everything that I requested, and now I just need to get the general contractor,” Longo said, adding that several contractors declined to sign off because they did not build the deck. Inspector Severina Nanesco confirmed the case (BE25120094) remained out of compliance and recommended more time to obtain a contractor or to remove the structure.
Chair Terry Nolan moved for a 56‑day extension; the board voted in favor. The extension gives the association time to secure a contractor who will sign the necessary paperwork or to dismantle the deck and re‑apply with a compliance filing. The board emphasized that if the respondent returns without meaningful progress the board can impose fines or other remedies at a later hearing.
