Cusseta'Chattahoochee County holds hearings on 2024 millage rate; proposed rate 8.512 mills

The Commission of the Unified Government of Cusseta'Chattahoochee County opened two advertised public hearings in August to present the proposed 2024 property-tax millage rate. At the Aug. 19 called hearing and again at the Aug. 26 public hearing, Chairman Charles Coffey announced the proposed rate of 8.512 mills and noted the five-year digest history is posted and available to the public.
County Manager Thomas Weaver told the Aug. 26 hearing the millage largely remains the same as last year and thanked the Tax Assessor and Tax Commissioner for compiling the digest; Coffey noted the gross digest had increased by roughly $64 million. Neither hearing drew public speakers, and both hearings concluded without public testimony. The work session record shows the board planned to add formal adoption of the millage to the Sept. 3 regular meeting agenda.
