Grayson County Board opposes proposed mid-decade congressional redistricting

County Administrator Stephen A. Boyer summarized the resolution; the roll-call vote recorded Michael B. Watson, C.S. “Sandy” Cunningham, III, Paul G. Richardson, Mary E. Dickenson Tomlinson and Michael S. Hash as voting Aye.
The resolution expresses concern that mid-decade redistricting efforts could dilute rural representation and urges protection of regional integrity and meaningful choice for rural voters. It directs that copies of the resolution be transmitted to the Governor, the members of the General Assembly representing Grayson County, and the Virginia Supreme Court. The Board framed the action as a defense of rural representation in southwest Virginia.
