District considers veterans wall in commons; cost estimated at $15,000–$20,000

The Williams Bay School District raised the idea of installing a veterans recognition wall in the commons on July 27 after enclosing a garage door in that large space.
"It is much more costly than I would have anticipated. We're looking probably right around 15,000. Could be that 15 to 20,000 all said and done," Doctor White said while presenting options that included plaques, acrylic displays with back graphics, wallpaper, or vinyl covers. He said he had obtained three quotes and favored plaques or a higher‑quality application rather than the cheapest vendor.
Doctor White said the district has the project in its budget and can afford it without shorting other departments; he will bring a recommendation to the next meeting. He also described outreach plans to veterans organizations, the historical society and civic league for possible donations, while noting he did not want to over‑burden the Lions Club, which the district has recently asked to support playground work.
Board members asked about how far back names would go and whether the display would be flexible to add future graduates; Doctor White said the committee intends to organize names by graduation year and allow additions.
