Patricia Ferguson, representing Equity Films and the Pecan Pippin Film Festival, delivered a presentation highlighting the festival’s growth, national attention and plans for 2026.
Ferguson said the festival received 123 films this year, has been chosen as a national finalist in an award program and plans to add a 'faith in film' category in 2026 with separate judges. She described partnerships with Hollywood animators and mentors who have worked on major films and said mentoring programs have involved local high‑school students. "We are an all volunteer organization… I was more than thrilled to say that next year we'll be introducing faith on film," Ferguson said as she passed program books to commissioners and invited them to next year’s events.
Ferguson framed the festival as both an arts platform and an economic opportunity for rural North Carolina and asked for continued county support. Commissioners thanked her for the presentation and accepted the invitation materials.
What’s next: festival organizers will continue outreach, publish the 2026 schedule and seek local venues and church partners for the 'faith in film' pilot screenings.
