Board clears Cashie River impoundment study contract after staff revisions

County attorneys and staff presented a revised contract for a Cashie River impoundment study, describing it as a more complete scope than earlier proposal letters and noting prior attorneys had asked for more detail.
Jonathan, the county attorney and presenter, said the county needed hydrologic and hydraulic flood modeling and that earlier material “was presented as a proposal and, like, a letter. It had the scope of services, had a price, but it wasn't fleshed out.” He told commissioners he had used a previously accepted contract template, consulted with county staff and Robin Payne, and addressed insurer/liability concerns raised by staff review. Commissioners moved to proceed with the contract and the motion carried by voice vote.
Staff noted part 1 of the study is funded and that part 2 — work more directly related to the Hager Mill Dam area — may require additional matching funds. The board asked staff to continue due diligence on liability, insurance and scope before returning final contract documents for execution.
