The Ottawa County Board acted March 25 on multiple committee appointments. Scott Mueller Lyle and Rebecca Patrick were appointed to the Environmental Health Appeals Board (one chosen for a term through Dec. 31, 2026; the other through Dec. 31, 2027) following committee nominations and votes.
Commissioners also debated whether the statute’s phrase "elected official of the county" for the materials-management planning committee seat includes only countywide officials or any elected official who won office within the county (including township officials and precinct delegates). County legal counsel (speaker 25) told the board the interpretation can cover any elected official in the county. The board then approved the chair's recommendation to appoint Commissioner Joe Moss (speaker 8) to that elected-official seat to achieve distribution of committee assignments among commissioners.
Commissioners praised the appointment-and-alignment committee for vetting nominees and asked administration for continued improvements in the appointment packet process.
