Sheriff’s Office shifts personnel, hires two deputies and reports crash trends

Sheriff Lancaster told commissioners that he had moved Patrol Deputy Slate to the Detective Division on a temporary assignment and that the department currently had 18 open cases. He reported that, of crashes deputies responded to over the past five weeks, 57% (72) were deer-related and included one totaled cruiser.
Separately, commissioners approved Resolution 25-223 to hire Nathan Jalbert II and Wyatt Brown as Patrol Deputies for the Somerset Sheriff’s Office on a 5-0 vote. The meeting also included the recommissioning of Lt. Michael Knight (Resolution 25-206, approved 5-0).
