County schedules Jan. 21 public hearing on ATV access to Lake Moxie Road

Somerset County Commissioners set a public hearing for Jan. 21, 2026, to consider an application from the Lake Moxie ATV Club (represented by Ben Towle) seeking ATV access to approximately 2.2 miles of the portion of Lake Moxie Road under county jurisdiction. Administrator Tim Curtis recommended at least 30 days’ notice to property owners along the proposed route; the Commission reached consensus to schedule the hearing at the second meeting in January.
The item will return to the agenda as a public hearing, allowing residents and stakeholders to present comments. The application and the County’s criteria for approving motorized access to county roads will be part of the public record at that hearing.
