At the Feb. 6 meeting the Hanover County Electoral Board approved a motion directing Registrar Teresa 'Teri' Smithson, her staff and the County Attorney’s staff to draft or combine an Electoral Board Rules document that will include required delegations of duties, a remote attendance policy for board members and rules for public comment.
The motion, made by Scott O. Konopasek, passed 3-0 and was recorded in the minutes. The board did not adopt a finalized rules document at the meeting; the motion directs staff and counsel to prepare draft language for future consideration.
The minutes do not include the draft language or a timetable for return of a proposed document; the motion is recorded as an instruction to staff and counsel to prepare the consolidated rules.
