Nobles County board adopts abatement, grants and appointments; several motions pass unanimously

The Nobles County Board of Commissioners on Oct. 8 approved multiple routine actions including a property tax abatement, a $6,000 child care grant, and several appointments and reappointments. The board adopted Resolution 202439 approving a tax abatement for Parcel 31-3659-005 (Colleen Bents) pursuant to Minnesota Statute 469.1813; the action was recorded as "it was duly passed" with Commissioner Robert S. Demuth moving the opening motion and Bob Paplow joining later votes.
The board also approved declaring Unit 2034 (a 2020 Chevrolet Tahoe, VIN 1GNSKDEC9LR244525) as excess property eligible for sale; approved a $6,000 child care grant to be funded through county funds; and reappointed Valerie Ruesch as Nobles County Assessor to a four-year term beginning Jan. 1, 2025. The board voted to absorb PEIP health-insurance premium increases for 2025 and instructed the budget committee to prepare recommended county contribution options for consideration at the Oct. 22 meeting. The meeting included a closed session on labor negotiations under Minn. Stat. 13D.03.
