The Zoning Board of Appeals voted to grant a 5-foot side-yard setback for a proposed freestanding garage at 4017 West River Road after hearing from the applicant and a neighboring resident who backed the request.
Applicant George Jackie described the plan as a freestanding 25-foot-wide by 28-foot-deep garage placed behind the house to allow turning radius and privacy between neighboring homes. Neighbor Chris Taylor, who said he lives at 4025 West River Road and is the most affected neighbor to the north, told the board, “I’m in support of it,” citing the lot’s narrowness and the practical need for additional covered storage. The board moved and approved the five-foot variance in a voice vote.
