Board of Elections policy set for first public reading; county clerk role noted
Summary
Commissioners scheduled the Board of Elections policy for a first public reading at the next work session and discussed how the election supervisor role will be appointed; County Manager noted the County Clerk is currently certified and handling elections duties.
Commissioner Timothy Biddle moved to have the Board of Elections policy receive its first public reading at the next work session; the motion was seconded and adopted unanimously. The work-session minutes record that the three-member Board of Elections will bring one to three recommendations for an election supervisor, and that the County Manager will assign the Election Supervisor role.
County Manager Thomas Weaver noted the County Clerk is already certified and currently performing elections duties. The Commission added the item to the agenda for a future second reading and possible final action, with staff and the Board to clarify supervisory responsibilities and separations of duties ahead of the vote.
