On March 4, 2025, the Chattahoochee County Board of Commissioners adopted a resolution authorizing submission of a FY2025 application to the Georgia Department of Community Affairs for Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) funds in an amount not to exceed $1,000,000 for a community facilities program. Commissioner Jason Frost moved to authorize filing the application; Commissioner Gerald Douglas seconded, and the vote was unanimous.
The commission also approved a separate resolution obligating $47,500 from county funds to serve as cash match and leverage for the potential CDBG award. The obligation is conditional on receipt of the requested grant and directs the chair to execute and submit required documentation to the Department of Community Affairs. The action was recorded in the minutes as taken March 4, 2025.
Supporting documents in the meeting packet include a Letter of Agreement with the River Valley Regional Commission (RC). The RC will prepare the application and, if the grant is awarded, provide technical and management assistance for implementation. The RC’s agreement lists a fee of $750 for a new application (and $500 for a rewrite) to help defray application costs; the RC will also assist with household surveys and preliminary historic/environmental assessments if requested by the county.
What happens next: county staff will coordinate with the River Valley Regional Commission to complete required application materials and, if awarded, execute contract terms for grant implementation and reporting.
