Resident asks why she was fined $260, raises 911 address and water-bill concerns

At the Sept. 23 work session, Christine Richards addressed the Commission about a court appearance she said she did not receive notice of and a $260 fine she said she was charged. Richards told the Commission she believed a 911 address sign error (her address listed as 145 rather than 140) might have caused the missed notice and said she is on a fixed income.
County Manager Thomas Weaver told Richards the Commission could not directly alter fines imposed by the judge but that staff would look into the 911 signage and her water-billing issue. Chairman Charles Coffey said the county could check the 911 sign and address assignment. Commissioner Damon Hoyte also asked whether she had issues receiving her water bill. Richards thanked the Commission after they agreed to look into the matter.
