County begins audit after finding 76 homes with unbilled extra trash cans

County Manager Thomas Weaver told commissioners the county has begun auditing garbage accounts and identified 76 locations with an extra trash can that are not currently billed. Weaver said staff will contact account holders to determine whether the extra can is an error—such as a can left behind after a tenant moved—or whether billing needs correction.
The Commission recorded the report under new business on Sept. 3. Weaver characterized the next step as outreach to affected households in an effort to correct account assignments; no enforcement policy or revised billing schedule was adopted at the meeting.
