District outlines phased roof repairs after leaks; major work pending town bidding

The superintendent said an initial exterior waterproofing project completed in July cost just over $5,000 and included a 10‑year warranty; Tremco performed moisture analysis testing of the roof and completed masonry sealant work that stopped leaks in the gym and band room area.
Additional concerns remain (chimney flashing, a skylight at the front entry, and problem roof‑drain flashing near the E wing). The superintendent said the district is waiting for Tremco's final report and a cost estimate to be delivered to town hall; once the estimate is received the work will be put out to bid and the full project is expected to include a 20‑year warranty. In the interim, custodial and maintenance staff are using buckets, mops and temporary sealants to manage leaks.
Committee members asked about routine maintenance and warranty follow-ups; staff said the selected contractor will be expected to provide periodic checks under the warranty and that the district is coordinating with town procurement for scheduling and funding.
