The Policy Subcommittee reported progress on its review of the district policy manual and recommended moving six policies to a first read and dropping two policies judged to be redundant or operational. Committee member Mark Lorenz told members the subcommittee reviewed Section I and recommended the following for a first read: ADC, BEDH, GBED, GBEE, GBGE and GCRD. He said two policies — BHD (community relations) and GDD (staff support/vacation days) — are better handled in manuals or collective bargaining agreements and should be dropped from the policy book.
The chair asked for a motion, members moved and seconded the first‑read recommendation, and the committee approved the motion by voice vote. A separate motion to drop BHD and GDD was similarly moved, seconded and approved. The committee clarified that a second read and formal vote will return at the next meeting for the policies advanced tonight.
