Commissioners Consider Moving EDH, Marketing and Support Services to Library's 2nd Floor

City staff told the commission they have identified critical departmental needs that could be addressed by moving several units into the 2nd Floor, including EDH, marketing and support services. "We have identified a few departments such as EDH, marketing and support services in the initial phase to relocate into this space," Devon Campbell said, explaining the move would improve staff productivity and morale.
Commissioner Sherazard asked whether the city would need the full 21,000 square feet for staff or if portions could be reserved for community training and flexible meeting spaces. Staff said a majority is likely needed for departmental growth but some flexible areas could be incorporated after architectural planning. Commissioners also queried whether third-party bids existed for taking any leftover space; staff said there was ongoing interest but the city intends to prioritize itself for occupancy.
Parking and access were discussed: staff reported roughly 160 on-site surface spaces during non-peak library hours and approximately 190 reserved spaces in the Miramar Town Center garage for the 2nd Floor. Commissioners asked for an IT and security assessment to plan secured access and after-hours entry for staff-only areas.
