Miramar seeks $21.4M for Historic Miramar drainage project to reduce flooding

Public Works presented a large stormwater project targeted at the Historic Miramar neighborhood. Shauna Combs, chief operating officer and public works director, said the FY26 CIP requests $21,400,000 for Historic Miramar drainage project phase 5 to further reduce flooding, improve stormwater flow and strengthen neighborhood resilience.
Combs described the project boundary (bounded by Southwest 68 Terrace and Southwest 25th Street to the north, Sunshine Boulevard to the west, Southwest 64th Avenue to the east and Miramar Parkway to the south) and said the work will include regrading swales and adding exfiltration treatment. The CIP that funds this project was adopted in principle; staff indicated detailed designs and procurement steps will follow and the project will be coordinated with stormwater and utility improvements.
