Clermont County approves AFSCME contract for Job and Family Services through 2027

The Clermont County Board of Commissioners on April 23 executed a collective bargaining agreement with the American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees (AFSCME), Ohio Council 8, Local 3536, representing employees of the Department of Job and Family Services (JFS). The agreement covers the period Jan. 1, 2025, through Dec. 31, 2027, and was approved unanimously by the Board.
As part of the action, the board authorized preparation and processing of record-only Munis personnel action forms to implement wage and salary increases for eligible bargaining employees “to reflect contract year 2025 salary/wage increases” based on 2024 performance evaluations, with adjustments effective Dec. 23, 2024. The Board’s approval included the requirement that new hires complete background checks and drug screens where applicable.
Why it matters: The contract sets pay and employment terms for a large county department that administers state- and federally-funded assistance programs. The Board’s vote means the JFS workforce will receive negotiated increases under the contract; the Auditor’s office was authorized to record the personnel changes in the county’s financial system.
