County reports shelter intake, adoptions and staffing needs amid volunteer push

Angie Livesay, Deputy Assistant County Administrator, told the Board the Clermont County Animal Shelter had 47 dogs in the kennel and 40 dogs in foster care, with 72 dogs adopted and 30 redeemed so far this year. "As of March 6, 2025, the intake for the year is 122 dogs, with five dogs being euthanized," Livesay said.
Livesay said volunteer orientations will begin in April and the shelter is updating its adoption materials and website. Ursula Miller, Communications Coordinator in the Office of Public Information, said the county is working to fix glitches in the Adoption Finder tool. Livesay also said the shelter is seeking a Kennel Director and that the March adoption-rate discount is intended to reduce kennel population pressure. The Board received the update after returning from executive session and took no formal action.
