EDA housing study set to begin outreach; regional septic grant could help up to 600 homeowners

The Page County Economic Development Authority heard an update Feb. 2 on the county’s housing study and potential regional funding to address failing septic systems.
Nina Fox, director of economic development and tourism, said stakeholder engagement sessions for the housing study are scheduled for Feb. 26 and that the study remains on track for completion in April. Fox said Page County Planning Director Josh Hahn will join the EDA’s housing subcommittee and that staff recently met with the Northern Shenandoah Valley Regional Commission, which is seeking to add Page County to a regional grant program that would assist homeowners who meet certain economic thresholds with pumping failing or failed septic systems.
Fox reported that, if the NSVRC grant is approved and Page is included, as many as 600 qualifying Page County homeowners could receive assistance under the program. No dollar amounts for the Page portion of the grant or eligibility thresholds were specified at the meeting.
