Property owners offer to build ADA pathway behind Aldous Cabin to support restaurant access

Jeff and Dakota Hyde presented a plan on Feb. 6 to construct an ADA-compliant pathway behind the Aldous Cabin to connect 200 S. with the restaurant building on 25th Street. The pathway, they said, would meet walkability goals and allow the restaurant to meet local licensing requirements for pedestrian access.
"The pathway would also increase the walkability of the area," Dakota Hyde told the council and said the Hydes would cover the cost if the town approved the routing and materials (concrete, wood, or pavers). The Hydes also flagged a damaged sprinkler system on an adjacent lot and reported they had been watering a maple tree on the site to keep it alive.
Council members agreed to visit the site the following day to assess alignment, ADA compliance and potential impacts on town infrastructure. No construction authorization was made at the meeting; the council said a formal application, site plan and staff report would be required before any permit or easement consideration.
