Huntsville Town Council opted to delay a decision about routing town-allocated park tax dollars through the Ogden Valley Parks Service Area (OVPSA) after council members said previous reimbursement promises had not been put in writing.
TCM Artie Powell said past requests for reimbursement to the town had not produced written commitments and that Huntsville lacks clear assurances about recouping park-related costs. "Huntsville cannot get any money until that is done," Powell said, urging the town to submit a park budget to OVPSA to get funds moving.
Council discussed representation on the nine-member OVPSA board (Huntsville currently has one seat) and acknowledged that tax flows and project priorities would need to be explicitly spelled out before transferring funds. Facing those unknowns, the council voted unanimously to table the item and await OVPSA budget action and written reimbursement assurances.
Council members said they remain open to cooperating but would require stronger documentation and timetable commitments from OVPSA before approving disbursement of tax receipts.
