Board dissolves County Compensation Board, assumes salary-setting duties

On July 28 the Emmet County Board of Supervisors unanimously adopted Resolution #2026-22, which dissolves the Emmet County Compensation Board and transfers its duties to the board of supervisors. The resolution states the supervisors will prepare an annual compensation schedule for elected county officers and that the change takes effect immediately upon adoption.
Supervisor Jeff Quastad moved to adopt the resolution and Todd Glasnapp seconded. The board recorded a unanimous vote to adopt the measure. The resolution’s text, as read into the record, cites recent Iowa General Assembly legislation enabling counties to dissolve compensation boards and have supervisors set elected-official salaries.
