Board joins joint drainage trustees in approving ECD #61 FEMA repair plan and local share

Emmet County drainage trustees joined a joint Zoom hearing with Dickinson and Clay counties on July 28 to consider FEMA-funded repairs to Emmet County Drainage District (ECD) #61 and Branch 61. Trustees reviewed the engineer estimates and proposed FEMA contributions before voting to approve the projects and schedule the bidding process.
The ECD #61 project was listed at $1,196,225 with proposed FEMA funding of $1,000,811.25 and an unfunded remainder of $195,413.75. The ECD #61 Branch 61 project was listed at $62,748 with proposed FEMA funding of $51,273.70 and an unfunded remainder of $11,474.30. Dickinson County opened the public hearing, moved to approve, and Clay County trustee Barry Anderson seconded; the Emmet, Dickinson and Clay drainage trustees voted unanimously to approve the projects and move to bid. Bid letting is scheduled for Aug. 27, 2026 at 2:00 p.m., with a bid approval meeting set for Sept. 1, 2026 at 9:30 a.m. (to be held by Zoom).
