Cherry Hill council introduces ordinance to ban data centers and updates rental occupancy rules

The council also approved Ordinance 2026-11 on first reading, which updates Chapter 15 (Property Maintenance Regulations), Article X (Certificate of Occupancy for Rental Dwelling Units). According to the mayor’s summary, the changes are intended to align the township’s rental inspection and certificate-of-occupancy process with State lead-based paint inspection requirements, strengthen enforcement, and modernize inspection procedures. Both ordinances advanced on first reading; further hearings or Planning Board review are next steps before final adoption.
