Henry Park, the student representative, told the committee the student advisory has been working on library improvements and recommends written expectations for conduct and use. "The students are suggesting that there be, established policies that clearly state how the library should be utilized and managed," Park said, adding the current rules are not well known and management often depends on the staff present.
Superintendent Mark Branko and committee members encouraged student involvement in visioning for the space and clarified that initial changes will focus on practices and expectations rather than formal policy updates. Branko coached the student leaders to frame proposals as practices at first, since official policy changes must be placed in the school committee policy book. Committee members asked Park to continue to meet with principals and student leaders and said they look forward to future updates.
