Finance Committee backs selling front 12 acres of Schwark Drain site, donating remaining 24 to Three Oaks

Interim County Administrator Mike Sepic and Community Development Director Dan Fette told the Finance Committee the county should divide the Schwark Drain parcel in Three Oaks and sell the front 12 acres while donating the remaining 24 acres to the Village of Three Oaks.
Dan Fette said the property split would be straightforward to obtain provided there is a donation agreement in place. He told the committee the approach would finally move the parcel “out from under the County” and that he will draft a resolution to authorize amending the purchase agreement so the transaction can proceed. The committee expressed support for the concept but did not take a formal vote on the sale during the meeting.
The proposal will return as a resolution for formal action once the county attorney and staff complete the draft amendment and donation agreement. No sale price or purchaser name was provided in the minutes.
