The Kenton County Fiscal Court approved a waiver of the 60-day waiting period related to an annexation request involving VTRE (VanTrust) Development and the City of Independence. County Administrator Joe Shriver told the court the city had already completed annexation steps and VanTrust requested the county’s waiver because recent legislative changes affect challenge and notice provisions.
Commissioner Jon Draud made the motion to approve the waiver and Commissioner Beth Sewell seconded. Judge/Executive Kris Knochelmann called for a voice vote and the waiver passed unanimously, 4-0. Shriver said the waiver will allow the project to move forward while preserving parties’ legal notice rights under the new statutory framework.
