Mike Prodgers presented quotes for UTV and ATV purchases to support EMS operations and event response, recommending a Bluegrass Powersports package that would provide two vehicles at a combined cost that staff favored.
Prodgers reviewed three vendor quotes and recommended the Bluegrass Powersports quote because it provided two units at a price that met county needs for event and trail response. He noted the importance of getting personnel and equipment to patients in difficult terrain and that the county’s chase vehicles could move patients to ambulances when terrain prevented full ambulance access. "Our recommendation is to be able to get 2 for basically the price of 1 to be able to get providers to where they need to be," Prodgers said, and the court approved the Bluegrass Powersports purchase by voice vote.
Staff discussed whether the vehicles would accommodate stretchers or Stokes baskets and said county fire has equipment to assist in those extrications; follow-up procurement will consider trailers or modifications to carry rescue equipment.
