Planning Commission refines Recreation Zone draft, schedules public hearing

Chairman Allen Endicott told the commission the packet included the documents presented by Commissioner John Henderson and that members had resumed detailed review; the work session ended with a plan to circulate a clean copy before the next meeting and to hold a public hearing on the ordinance.
The draft ordinance clarifies permitted and conditional uses, and sets enforceable limits on intensity. The draft text states, "Special Events require a permit issued by the Huntsville Town Council in accordance with Section 15.14.4(C), and are limited to no more than three (3) per calendar year per property," language circulated as part of the clean copy. Commissioners also directed staff to reflect agreed changes such as the camping density cap and noise and lighting standards in the cleaned draft that will be released for public review.
