The Huntsville Town Planning Commission on Sept. 25 approved a land‑use permit allowing a concrete pad and portable sauna to be placed on Town parcel #240140039 under a lease to Ogden Valley Sauna.
Applicants described an 18-by-26-foot concrete pad with an 8-by-19-foot portable sauna, a 4-foot sidewalk and small bathroom area. PCM Steve Songer moved to approve the land‑use permit; Chairman Allen Endicott seconded. Commissioner Liz Poulter recused from the vote; the motion carried with the remaining commissioners voting Aye.
The commission also approved a wood sign (5 by 6 feet) proposed to be attached to an existing fence, with hooded, downward-directed warm lighting to comply with dark-sky standards. Kaitlin, representing the business at the meeting, said the sign and lighting would meet dark-sky requirements: "the signage will be lit to Dark sky standards." The Planning Commission approved signage with the stipulation that the finalized sign concept be emailed to the commission for review before installation.
Attachments in the meeting packet include the lease, site measurements and the town land‑use permit showing setbacks and standard permit language. The approvals include the condition that the final sign concept be submitted to Planning Commission staff for confirmation that it meets dark‑sky and setback requirements.
