Township solicitor cautions against deliberation as Planning Commission weighs formal SALDO review checklist

Following a public hearing on SALDO revisions, the Planning Commission discussed how to provide applicants with a checklist of required documents so applicants understand what constitutes a completed submission. Solicitor Gary Falatovich told the Commission that an informal review and checklist can be provided to applicants without starting the 90-day Municipalities Planning Code review clock, but warned that commissioners must not deliberate or reach consensus in public meetings in ways that would violate the Sunshine Act.
Commission Chair Connie Mattei said she would draft a resolution spelling out review procedures for the Commission to consider at its next meeting; the solicitor will post required public notices for the supervisors' consideration of the ordinance amendments on April 16. A procedural motion to recommend review procedures failed for lack of formal content and died; the Commission adjourned after scheduling the next regular meeting for May 7 if there is an agenda.
