The Boyle County Fiscal Court approved a motion to purchase the Elizabeth Estes property at 820 Hoek Hollow Road in Junction City, comprising 42 acres and associated buildings, for the appraised price of $350,000. Magistrate Cohen moved the purchase and asked the judge executive to approach the City of Danville about splitting the purchase price; the court approved the motion and set a target closing date around Aug. 23, 2026.
Supporters said the property would improve access to nearby trails and serve both city and county needs, pointing to potential economic and recreational benefits. "It would be a great economic addition to this," one magistrate said while describing proximity to trail networks and storage capacity. The court carried the motion by voice vote.
