The Boyle County Fiscal Court approved the purchase of a used excavator that county crews had been renting for brush-out and burn operations. Director Angie Muncie said the machine originally sells new for about $190,000 but the dealer (Boyd Cat) quoted a purchase price of $118,007.57 after subtracting rental fees.
Magistrates pressed staff to verify hours, warranty status, lien/title status and whether the sale could proceed under state contract pricing for used equipment. "We can verify that," Muncie said, and the court conditioned the purchase on confirmation of a clean title and allowable state-contract pricing. The court approved the motion; staff will complete a transfer from reserves and confirm warranty and lien status before final closing.
