Don Hauser of BHE GT&S asks Salem supervisors for support of Appalachian Reliability Project

Don Hauser, a representative of BHE GT&S, presented the Appalachian Reliability Project to the Salem Township Board of Supervisors and asked the board for a letter of support. Hauser described the project as an effort to bring gas from Westmoreland County and southern Armstrong County producers onto BHE’s interstate system for sale into interstate markets and said the project will require upgrades to the Delmont Measurement & Regulation (M&R) station inside the Oakford Storage Facility.
Hauser explained the function of M&R facilities, saying, "Measurement (M) = how much gas is coming into or off the system. Regulation (R) = how the pressure of the gas from the interstate line is regulated to the smaller pipeline that is a lower pressure." He told supervisors that BHE will schedule a tour of the Oakford Storage Facility for township officials and will hold a community open house in late April at a location near affected property owners; he noted invitations will be emailed when time and place are confirmed. Hauser also pointed attendees to BHEGT&S.com for community engagement and grant information and said his committee meets quarterly to distribute funding to local organizations.
The presentation did not include a formal vote by the supervisors on a letter of support during the March 19 meeting; Mr. Hauser said he will follow up to arrange the site tour and outreach.
