Salem supervisors authorize steps to dissolve Crabtree authority, continue sewer feasibility work

Salem Township supervisors authorized the Township Solicitor to take steps necessary to dissolve the Crabtree Area Municipal Authority so the township can resume progress on sewer planning and Act 537 matters. Solicitor Falatovich told supervisors the authority and the previous 537 plan still exist on paper; dissolution is required before Salem can pursue further engineering or plan changes.
Board members also discussed regional cooperation on a feasibility study for transporting Crabtree sewage to 14‑Mile Run. Kerry Jobe reported that Hempfield has withdrawn from the effort over concerns about development and growth, leaving Unity and Salem to reassess project boundaries and grant needs. Separately, the Board approved flow monitoring of the Cloverleaf sewer system, an estimated $6,000‑plus effort (including $1,300/month, setup fees and reporting time) to measure off‑site sewage contributions; funding for the monitor will come from an existing grant.
