Boyle County adopts first reading to allow ‘qualified manufactured homes’ under new state law

Gray explained the definition the county will use: "Qualified manufactured home means manufactured home that meets all of the following parts criteria, is manufactured on a date not to exceed 5 years prior to the date of installation...and has a minimum total living area of 900 square feet," and described strict compatibility rules (roof pitch, facade composition, materials, placement) the county will require. The changes allow qualified manufactured homes in R-1A/B/C zones but require zoning and building permits, inspections for Kentucky Residential Code compliance, and adherence to compatibility standards. Staff said the redlined language will return for a second reading and that public hearings and committee review are planned.
