Feeding South Florida receives check and reports nearly 10,000 Miramar household assists in year

Tamika Ramkeson, a Miramar resident and the organization’s director of development, thanked the commission and summarized recent service statistics.
"We serve over 1,200,000 individuals annually across the four counties," Ramkeson said, and noted the agency rescued and distributed 21,000,000 pounds of food last year. She told the commission Feeding South Florida assisted 9,961 households in Miramar in the specified fiscal reporting period.
Commissioners and staff praised the food bank’s volunteer efforts and confirmed ongoing partnership opportunities, including donations and volunteer packing events. Vice Mayor Colburn and others encouraged residents to volunteer and participate in upcoming service days.
Next steps: the commission and city staff said they will continue to coordinate with Feeding South Florida on volunteer recruitment and any partnership programming that could expand local food access.
