Commissioners continue FY27 budget work session over two-day special meeting

The McLennan County Commissioners Court held a multi-day FY27 budget work session on July 14–15, 2026, hearing departmental presentations and requests across public safety, infrastructure, courts and county operations.
Major David Ives and Captain Shawn Nixon presented personnel and capital-outlay requests for the Sheriff's Office; County Engineer Amy Hyland reviewed engineering project and capital needs including bridge projects; County Auditor Frances Bartlett presented schedule and next steps for adoption of the FY27 budget and 2026 tax rate. Other presenters included the District Attorney Josh Tetens, justice-of-the-peace judges, constables, adult probation leadership and the information-technology director. The Court recessed and reconvened across the two-day special meeting and directed staff to continue budget work sessions according to the auditor's schedule.
